Actual life of a Boomer.

Post baby boom people, particularly “GenZ” love to complain about the “Boomer” generation.  Here’s the actual reality and truth.

  • Many (most?) didn’t go to college. Those who did weren’t indebted by it.
  • Degrees never have guaranteed a job.
  • Tuition wasn’t that cheap, just affordable if you also worked.
  • Worked more than one job or advanced to new jobs in a company.
  • Never bought a house at 23 unless someone gave you the money to do so.
  • Wife worked part time and full time. Both parents parented. Now single parent households ruin many children. Varies how people “came out” financially.
  • Monthly mortgage was 25% or more of income. Also that sort of calculation determined if you could even get a mortgage.
  • Retirement funded by our own (and sometimes company) contributions and savings.
  • Sold house for 10% to 50% more, or for a loss depending on markets and economy.
  • Just DID “save more” and factory wages were pretty darned good.
  • Raised a generation on traditional values and personal responsibility which the #Collectivists have sought to tear down for 50 years since then. We didn’t teach victimhood or entitlement.
  • Biggest financial mistake was not preventing government to over-regulate the economy, over tax the people and grossly overspending money it doesn’t have.
  • Stop buying boutique coffee it’s one of the silliest things you do. You were just complaining about profiting from home equity incorrectly earlier in this list. When you buy property wisely and it gains in value you earned it. The market and economy determine home equity.
  • My kids have kids, don’t do so many of the stupid things other folks do. They own a home, have kids, successful careers (including their own small business) and have a healthy active family not focused on false victimhood and blaming previous generations.

Too many young people, like you perhaps(?) overspend on frivolity like food delivery and boutiqe coffee. Ritzy eating out. Brand clothings and accessories, multiple unnecessary “entertainments”, expensive phones and tech services. Too many don’t save their money for the future and expect others to provide for them now or in the future. Too many younger people are lazy, spoiled by modern convenience, have never experienced actual adversity, think they’re entitled to stuff and are emotionally immature, irresponsible and don’t understand accountability.

Show this to any GenZ entitled whiner (about how “hard” they’ve got it), ignorant of history, economics and the realities of life because they’ve been cushioned by the most free, most prosperous, most safe and most wonderful country that has EVER existed in the history of mankind.
